What better way to spend an evening than to enjoy dinner and a movie with friends? Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) Atlanta Chapter provides an opportunity to do just that at its most popular annual event, Dinner and a Movie, to be held on Tuesday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. Hosted at the scenic River Landing in Roswell, this year’s gathering features a curated selection of short films from the Southern Foodways Alliance paired with a delicious buffet dinner prepared by renowned Avalon Catering owner and Dame, Cathy Conway.
Conway’s daughter Madison gave her mother the book When Southern Women Cook as a holiday gift. The book is a first-of-its-kind collection of recipes and writing from 70 female contributors, and it inspired Conway to research and select the films that will be shown. She has hand-selected 40 minutes of engaging short films that celebrate the stories, traditions, and culture of Southern women who cook.
The lineup includes powerful and heartwarming films, such as Helen the Legend, Pupusas for Education, and Mexington, which all showcase interesting women who connect communities and preserve culinary heritage across generations and geographies.
The menu for the event will reflect and honor the diverse Southern cultures highlighted in the films, using beautifully prepared food to bring the rich tapestry of stories to life.
Tickets for the event are $75 and include dinner, beer, wine, and soda. Seating is limited and this event is expected to sell out, so guests are encouraged to reserve early.
