Born and raised in Burgundy, France, Gallardo moved to Atlanta in 2006, first working at Joël, when she was featured on our cover in 2010, before opening Perrine’s Wine Shop in West Midtown later that year.
Since then, she’s expanded to two more locations in Buckhead and Sandy Springs. Along with a curated selection of wines from all over the world, each of her shops offers wine-related snacks, gifts, and a tasting room for special events and weekly tastings.
What are some of the major takeaways from your years in the hospitality industry?
Adaptability. The industry is constantly evolving. Being able to pivot quickly has been crucial to our success. However, the biggest challenge in being adaptable is maintaining consistency in the customer experience, which remains my No. 1 priority. Ensuring that every guest feels valued and receives the same level of care and service, no matter the circumstances, is what defines us.
Another key takeaway is the power of genuine connection and personalized service. Hospitality isn’t just about providing a product or a service; it’s about creating memorable experiences and making people feel seen and appreciated. Continuous learning and education have also been essential in my journey. Lastly, supporting sustainable and ethical practices is crucial, both in the wines we select and in how we operate our business.
How do you feel the hospitality industry has changed since 2010?
One of the most profound shifts I’ve noticed, especially after the pandemic, is the difficulty in finding people who want to work in hospitality. The industry has also evolved in positive ways. There’s been a shift toward more personalized and unique experiences, with customers seeking authenticity and connection over mere transactions. Technology has reshaped how we engage with guests, making communication more immediate. Sustainability has also become a significant focus, with more customers caring about the origins of the products they consume and the impact their choices have on the environment. This shift has pushed the industry toward more responsible practices, from sourcing sustainably produced wines to reducing waste and supporting ethical producers.
