Baraonda Ristorante, an Atlanta restaurant featuring traditional Italian cuisine by Executive Chef Costanzo Astarita, recently announced a Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner taking place on October 15. Chef Astarita and his team of chefs will prepare a “Piedmont to Piedmont” themed, multi-course dinner for guests featuring cuisine and wine pairings from the Piedmont regions of Italy and Georgia.
Proceeds from the Friends of James Beard Benefit will support the foundation’s scholarship program, which helps aspiring culinary students by supporting them on their path to success in the culinary industry.
“The city of Atlanta boasts a burgeoning culinary community, including many residents who are James Beard Foundation supporters. With that in mind, we wanted to create a meaningful event that not only supports a great organization, but also provides a memorable experience,” explains Chef Astarita, co-owner of Baraonda Ristorante. “Our culinary team has passion for providing exceptional, fresh and local food. We also believe in investing in the education of our community’s young culinary talent. This one-of-a-kind dinner marries those interests.”
Open to the public, the “Piedmont to Piedmont” Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner will be held in Baraonda’s wine cellar, offering an exclusive private dining experience. The menu will feature a multi-course dinner including dishes such as expresso-rubbed venison backstrap, lamb tongue fritters and apple persimmon polenta cake. All dishes will be paired with Italian or North Georgia wines in order to highlight wineries such as Marenco Pineto in Italy’s Piedmont region and Yonah Mountain Vineyards based in Cleveland, Georgia.
