The “Shops at Highland Walk” development recently announced their newest tenant, Last Word, a contemporary American restaurant by former Woodfire Grill owner Bernard Moussa. Last Word is slated to open late August 2014.
Last Word will be located in the space formerly home to Old Fourth Ward’s P’cheen and is within walking distance of other popular concepts such as Zuma Sushi and Sake Bar, La Frutella, Pure Taqueria, Parish, Highland Bakery, Barcelona Wine Bar and more.
Executive Chef Eddie Russell (formerly of Parish, Five & Ten, and Farm 255 and co-founder of the Four Coursemen and Coterie and Tie supper clubs) will offer “dishes (that) vary in size and price, with a focus on seasonality and using pristine ingredients.” He further explains, “The style of menu will be most similar to a trattoria, but with contemporary cuisine representing Bernard’s and my background, travels, and inspirations.”
“We wanted a place to have the character of a great bar but taste like an exceptional restaurant, and felt that Eddie is the right fit for just that,” says Moussa. “He shares our belief in sustainability, our sense of community, and our commitment to work tirelessly to provide guests with a great experience.”
In addition to craft beers and a concise, yet constantly evolving wine list, beverage director Brian Stanger (Abattoir, Top Flr, and Woodfire Grill) is prepping a cocktail list.
